EVENTS - 2005
A KLEZMER CONCERT & DESSERT EVENING -
Sunday, Sept. 25th -Hands were clappin', feet were tappin', and those members fortunate to attend our first annual Klezmer Concert and Dessert Evening were totally OVERWHELMED by the entertainment. The Harry Frank Klezmer Band consisted of five of the finest musicians ever to be heard - Harry; Pianist Ritchie; Trumpet, Randy; Drummer, Jerry; and from Russia, Violist, Eddie - each performing individually, as well as together. They all also sang and told stories and each "could have been a show unto himself," as one guest commented.

With 300 in attendance, the room was packed, but some found space to dance the Hora when sounds of Hava Nagila enveloped the room. After an incredible 1-1/2 hour performance, everyone enjoyed an array of scrumptious desserts consisting of a variety of special cheesecakes, yummy chocolate eclairs, cookies of every description, huge chunks of delicious fresh fruit and coffee.

Our thanks to ANITA BAKER, who discovered this group and arranged for them to perform for us, as well as the many members on her committee. It was truly a night that will long be remembered.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME
-
Fifty members of the Philadelphia Club attended a Phillies-Marlins baseball game at Pro Player Stadium on April 13, 2005. Everyone had a great time. Our bus driver was terrific, as was the weather. The only bad news about the trip was that the Phillies lost 4-0.

Special thanks to Sheldon Kenin for putting it all together, chairing the event.

BROWARD COUNTY MUMMERS STRING BAND and LUNCHEON
Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the DELRAY BEACH GOLF CLUB - A great afternoon was experienced by 200 members who danced and strutted up a storm with the beautifully costumed members of the Mummers String Band.

Special thanks to chairperson Toby Nathanson for an outstanding job of getting it all together.

BAR-B-QUE PARTY-
Sunday, November 7, 2004 - Attended by over 100 members, a good time was had by all. Chicken, ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers were among the items on the menu.

Special thanks to chairperson Edee Dutkin for a great job, including the addition of word games.

PAST TRIPS

Las Vegas Trip
-
On Sunday, April 10th, 2005 a group of members of the Philadelphia Social Club met at the West Palm Beach airport at 6 a.m. Destination: the beautiful Mirage hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our plane arrived in Vegas at 10:20 a.m. (we gained 3 hours), so we had all day Sunday to explore the sites. During our 5 day vacation, we did the usual fun things - gambling, shows, side trips, Sigfried & Roy's Secret Garden, visiting other spectacular hotels, shopping and eating and eating and eating. The weather was delightful and we all had a wonderful time. Our plane touched down at 9:15 p.m. Thursday evening. It was a very memorable experience, but I think we all were a little glad to be home. Our thanks to David Rosen for so masterfully chairing this trip.
